8 EASY Cocktails-In-A-Mug to Warm Up With This Winter

8 EASY Cocktails-In-A-Mug to Warm Up With This Winter

Okay, so it doesn’t get super cold here in this part of Texas, but we all know that doesn’t really matter one bit.  As soon as there’s even the slightest bit of a chill in the air, we are all running for the (darker hair colors), boots and sweaters.  You know it’s true!  And along with that comes turning on the heater for the first time (which has always been one of my favorite things), and curling up under a warm fuzzy blanket with something warm to sip on and our favorite show on the tv.  I know I am not the only one who does these things, so today I’d like to share a few of our favorite warm adult beverages to help keep us all nice and toasty on these cold winter nights.  And maybe ask the question, “WHY THE HECK DO MY FAVORITE SHOWS GO ON WINTER BREAK?”  If ever there was a time that I want to watch Grey’s, it’s when I’m all cozied up in said fuzzy blanket with that warm adult beverage in-hand!  Seriously, why??

Anyway, here’s a nice list of perfect-for-winter, slightly-boozy-cocktails-in-a-mug for those long nights at home…regardless of what you’re stuck with on Netflix.

(These are NOT my recipes and NOT my photos, by the way.  Click the links to be taken to the original creator’s website!)

Red Wine Hot Chocolate: This is a new one for me this year, but has quickly become one of my favorites!

Mulled Wine: Apparently, this is a big deal in Europe.  My sister-in-law who lives in Paris made it for all of us a few Christmases ago and I've been hooked ever since.  You can either make your own mulling spice from the recipe linked below or you can purchase pre-made ones here (affiliate link).

Spiked Caramel Apple Cider: This is a recipe I found on Pinterest a couple of years ago and made for a Friendsgiving get-together...it was THE HIT of the party.  I cannot, for the life of me though, find the original pin anymore so I have no source to credit here.  If you happen to know who the original creator of this recipe and photo is, please let me know!

  • 64 oz apple cider or apple juice
  • 1/2 c to 1 c Hershey caramel sauce (found with the ice cream toppings)
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 apple, cored and sliced
  • Smirnoff Kissed Caramel vodka

Combine everything BUT THE VODKA in a crockpot and cook on low for at least 3 hrs.  When done, add 1 or 2 oz of the caramel vodka in your glass with the cooked cider.  Serve with whipped cream and/or drizzle with more caramel syrup, if you're feeling fancy!

Hot Honey Lemon With Vodka: Something my husband whipped up for me when I was suffering from a sore throat; so easy and so soothing!

Baileys Hot Chocolate: Did you know we used to live in Utah?  Yeah, it's COLD in Utah.  This was our go-to cold weather drink while we were there, and is still an easy favorite now.  Can't say ours have ever turned out this pretty, but it doesn't have to be pretty to be delicious!

Irish Coffee: I'd say this one is better earlier in the day or when made with decaf, if you're sensitive to caffeine.

Yes, we have tried every single one of these (I am not ashamed!) and they are all amazing.  Pick one or two and try them out over a few cold weekends and let me know what you think.  Also, be sure to let me know if you have a favorite go-to drink that’s not on this list…and stay warm, friends!
