GO to Main Street THIS SATURDAY: Support Our American Heroes & Have Fun Too!
This week I received some awesome information about an event that will be taking place on Main Street in Boerne. Twelve riders, all veterans sponsored by the Road Warrior Foundation, will end an amazing 2,155-mile trip right here in our home town! And they will be escorted by HUNDREDS of “rumbling Can-Am Spyders—an amazing sight for kids and adults alike.” The entire procession will take about twenty minutes to make its way through downtown Boerne and Soda Pop’s & Sugar Shack will be giving away free American flags so we can welcome these heroes to Boerne the All-American way. Check out the press release for all the details:
Veterans to Conclude 2,155-Mile “Road Warrior Ride” in Boerne
Hill Country of Texas US Spyder Ryder Chapter Calls on Hill Country Residents to Line Main Street in Support
BOERNE, Texas – The Road Warrior Foundation, founded in 2013 to support injured veterans, will conclude its 2018 “Road Warrior Ride” with a Patriotic Ride through downtown Boerne’s Hill Country Mile at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 20. The US Spyder Ryder Hill Country of Texas Chapter is urging everyone to line the sidewalks of Main Street to show support for the 12 Road Warriors, all veterans, who made the 2,155-mile trip from San Jose, California to Boerne. Several hundred Spyder motorcycles, known for their distinctive dual front wheel design, will escort this year’s Road Warriors on their final leg of the epic trip.
The procession will last around 20 minutes and will be a spectacle of hundreds of rumbling Can-Am Spyders—an amazing sight for kids and adults alike. Supporters are asked to gather on the sidewalks along Main Street to greet the Road Warriors, and Soda Pops Grill, located at 103 N. Main, directly across from Main Plaza, will be giving away free American flags for revelers to wave.
“We want to show the Road Warriors how much the Hill Country appreciates their service,” said Jay MacLeod, president of the US Spyder Ryders Hill Country of Texas chapter. “So let’s get out there with flags, signs and your best wave to greet these men and women as they finish up a life-changing trip here in Boerne.”
The Road Warrior Foundation pulls together veterans with service-related injuries, and uses powersports and adventure to provide them an experience of a lifetime free of charge. Since 2014, Can-Am has sponsored the Road Warrior Ride providing Spyder motorcycles and training for veterans who choose to make the challenging multi-state trek, supporting the foundation’s mission to help wounded veterans recover and learn how to rebuild their lives through what it calls “adventure therapy.”
“Seeing the support of all of us out there on October 20 will be a great memory for these brave men and women, “ MacLeod said. “We hope to see everyone out there.”
If there was ever a time to show just what Boerne is all about, this is it. So, put on your most patriotic flare, grab your free flag, and wave it with pride to welcome these men and women to our town and congratulate them on their journey. Be sure to get there early so you don’t miss it—and don’t forget to share this post to spread the word!
