Smallcakes Has Come to Boerne: Here's All You Need to Know!
You know, sometimes these new businesses come in with all kinds of fanfare and we anxiously await the day the doors open for what seems like FOREVER. Other times, they sneak up on you when you least expect it! For me, Smallcakes did just that. I noticed the transformation of the building a few weeks ago and got all kinds of excited when I saw the signage go up and finally knew what it was going to be. Well, now they're open and if you've been jonesing for a local cupcake shop in Boerne (was anybody else as distraught as I was when Sugar Belles closed its doors??), then this is the moment you've been waiting for!
We know from the company's website that this is a franchise owned by a local military family (there are over 200 Smallcakes shops worldwide!) and that each morning 12 different flavors of yumminess come right out of that oven. What can you expect? Well, "Cookies-N- Cream, Hot Fudge Sundae, Caramel Crunch, and 'Famous' Red Velvet, to name a few" and these rotate monthly, with over 250 flavors in total (source). But that's not all: there's freshly churned ICE CREAM too!
I took the kiddos after school and we opted for the Wedding Cake, Birthday Cake, and Pink Chocolate...and you know I tasted them all! Everything we tried was perfectly moist (sorry for those of you with an aversion to that particular word), fluffy, and delicious. There's bottled water and coffee available and coming soon: locally brewed craft beer and Texas Hill Country wine as well! Could you really ask for anything more??
Well, yes, yes you could. You could ask for an open-air atmosphere with a patio, covered picnic tables, and your favorite country music tunes on the radio...and if you DID ask for that, that's exactly what you'd get:
You could ask for a caterer for your birthday party, bridal shower, baby shower, or even your WEDDING. You could ask for an event venue or a fun girl's night out location where you can decorate your cake and eat it too. And YES, that's exactly what you'd get! You could also ask for a changing table in the restroom, a kids table with toys, and kid-friendly movies on the tv and I'm happy to say you'd be pleased with the answer to those requests as well. The only thing that's missing is a high chair and I'm told those are on order (mamas rejoice!).
Do go check this place out; it is just too cute (and tasty) for words. And when you're having a bad day or you just need to get the crazies out of the house before you lose your ever-lovin' mind, ask yourself if, "maybe a cupcake will help?". I think we all know the answer to that!
Have you been to Smallcakes yet? Tell us what you think! If you haven't been, you can find them at 161 S. Main...enjoy!
