Event Recap: A Boerne Community Coalition Volunteer Day - And A Personal THANK YOU

Event Recap: A Boerne Community Coalition Volunteer Day - And A Personal THANK YOU

For the past three months, we have hosted small social and networking events at local businesses and donated the proceeds to the Boerne Community Coalition.  In April, it was Blooms for Boerne at Maker's Place.  In May, it was the Mompreneurs Mixer at Salvador DOBBS.  And in June, it was Yes Way, Rosé! at Saint Tryphon Farm & Vineyards.  Altogether, it was FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS that we raised and donated, all while getting to meet new people, network, support local businesses, and have a great time.  I don't know about you, but I think that's pretty darn amazing!

To cap off our three months of giving to this wonderful organization, we held a volunteer day where more than thirty people showed up to help decorate lunch bags, write encouraging messages, and fill those bags with food for kids in Boerne who might otherwise go hungry over the summer break.  A lot of us already knew each other because we'd met at one of the three previous events, but there were also a few new faces and boy, was it great getting to chat over a giant creative mess of construction paper, glue, markers, and stickers galore!

I'm almost at a loss for words on how much this event truly touched my heart...I'm amazed at the turnout, the fact that so many of you brought your wonderful kiddos to join in on the fun, and by all of the GOOD that was done for our community in just the few hours that we were there.  We created HUNDREDS of lunch bags that will be used for providing a bit of sunshine and cheer to some of the kids in our community who probably need it the most.

These were just the bags that were filled to hand out right away.  There were so many more that were decorated to be filled at a later time!

If you were able to make it out to any of our events over the past few months or if you came out to volunteer, THANK YOU.  You have done so much for our local community by supporting these small businesses, contributing to our fundraising efforts, and showing up to pack bags full of food and love.  And I have sincerely enjoyed getting to know each and every one of you.

Over the next three months, our events will support the Kendall County Women's Shelter.  Our first night of fun is scheduled for Saturday, August 18th, at Smallcakes Cupcakery & Creamery.  I don't want to give too much of a spoiler, but there will be cupcakes, wine, and really pretty fingernails involved. 😊 I hope to see YOU there as we continue to sow seeds for our community, meet new friends, and have a great time while we're at it!
