Event Recap: Cupcakes, Color Street, & Cabernet (For a Cause!)

Event Recap: Cupcakes, Color Street, & Cabernet (For a Cause!)

This past weekend we held our first event supporting our fundraising beneficiary for this quarter, the Kendall County Women's Shelter.  The event, held at Smallcakes Cupcakery & Creamery, was entitled "Cupcakes, Color Street, & Cabernet" and that's just what it was!  We spent our evening AWAY from our kids, away from the hustle and bustle of back-to-school, and away from our weekday worries...and indulged ourselves in scrumptious cupcakes and wonderful Hill Country Wine instead (and supported a great local small business in the process!).

We also had Color Street Director and Senior Stylist, Pauline Mumme, with us to tell us all about these adorable nail strips that have suddenly popped up EVERYWHERE over the past year.  What we learned was that not only are they made with real nail polish and come in all sorts of fun colors and patterns, but they're also super easy to apply, with no drying time!  Each set costs about $12 (with discounts for purchasing multiple sets, of course) and there are enough strips for a mani AND a pedi in each package.  Pretty sure that's far less than I've ever spent at a nail salon!

Since having kids, I haven't had my nails done regularly but I sure did pick up four packages of these things at the event!  With the affordable cost, cute designs, and the fact that I can do my nails then run straight to the nursery to change a diaper or hop in the car to make a grocery run, why wouldn't I take the chance to actually feel a bit more put-together again?  This busy mama is hooked!

This turned out to be such a fun, totally relaxed and casual event and we raised $165.16 for the Kendall County Women's Shelter through the ticket sales alone!  Pauline has also generously offered to donate 20% of her sales proceeds for the evening, so I think we can call this one a smashing success.

As always, a huge thank you to everyone who joined us in supporting these two local small businesses and helped us fund-raise for the women's shelter.  It was so great to see some old friends and meet a few new ones too.  Keep your eyes and ears open for September's event...and we'll see you there!
